We’ve all met people who know what they want from as early as they can remember. Andrew Vowles, our new massage therapist, is one of them. ‘Since I was a kid I was interested in sports, and the way the human body works,’ he says. Instead of following a doctor path, Andrew opted for a career in rehab and he’s never looked back.
Andrew is a British Columbia native but of Scottish origin, and he has always been into being physically active. He loves working out, the latest being kickboxing. “I grew up doing martial arts,’ he says. After getting his black belt in Taekwondo, Andrew is presently doing Muay Tai (that’s Thailand kickboxing.)
As for the outside of work hobbies, Andrew’s big passion is gardening. ‘My mom got me into this,’ he laughs, ‘and it gets people chuckling when they match my big athletic frame with gardening.’ But he loves everything about it and getting his hands dirty is one of the best things.
Andrew’s journey at MaxFit started with him as a patient. That’s the best way to understand how things are done in a place like MaxFit. ‘I like the way patients are treated here,’ Andrew says, ‘and I realized right away that it matches how I’ve been treating people, so choosing to work here after being offered to join the team felt like the right thing.’
Andrew’s passion for athletics is a great fit for Maxfit (no pun intended!). He gets to see both professional athletes and weekend warriors: ‘I like working with people who are active and I like being able to be getting them back to being active, because I can relate to being injured and unable to do the fitness activities I love.’
