Most people would say that in order to be a good runner you need strong legs first and foremost. Yet at MaxFit we challenge that belief and for a good reason. According to Dr. Kelsick in a latest interview for Run With It on Shaw TV, ‘running is a whole body movement’ rather than a segmental one involving arms or legs only.
The fascia network system, the tissue that is present everywhere in our bodies and holds everything together, is what gives us the ability to make running efficiently and effectively and with a reduced risk of injury. That is, if we learn how to move correctly. Our Teach Me To Run workshops are a comprehensive training program addressed to recreational runners, as well as to sports players and coaches demonstrating proper running technique.
One of the resources we use in the workshop is the new book on fascia by Robert Schleipp, with a chapter authored by Dr. Kelsick.
One of the workshop instructors and together with Dr. Kelsick, Olympic Gold medalist Robert Esmie, shares his expertise on technique, alignment, and stride. Whether you are a seasoned runner or a beginner, the initial gait analysis and the subsequent tips offered during the workshop will help you develop a better technique and reduce your risk of injury. ‘Running is not a forceful activity, but rather an elastic one,’ says Dr. Kelsick.
For efficient, elastic running, tendons, ligaments, muscle and fascia network need to work together. Our program will show you how to do that using straightforward information about basic human anatomy and physiology. Weak fascia tissue network & muscles cause imbalances, which increase the risk of injury. By strengthening the body locomotion fascia network and muscles with well-directed exercise you will reduce pain and discomfort which in turn makes common running injuries less of a possibility.
Our Teach Me To Run program will be offered again beginning in March (dates to be determined) but meanwhile please stay tuned for the release of our new DVD (based on the training techniques we provide in our workshop) at the end of January.
