Robert “Blast Off” Esmie brings to the MaxFit team unparalleled running expertise. He is an Olympic gold medalist and two-time world champion with extensive experience as a motivational speaker and sports trainer. He was on the 4×100-metre relay team that took the gold for Canada at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, stunning the United States, which had dominated the event since its inception. Robert gained his nickname by having the words “blast off” shaved into the back of his head before the event. He was also on Canada’s relay teams that won world championships in 1995 and ’97. Additionally, Robert has had strong showings in the 60-, 100-, and 200-metre races at various events in Canada and abroad. Robert provides MaxFit patients with analysis and prescriptions for running technique as well as developing conditioning programs for running as it relates to any activity, a competitive sport or a social endeavour.
