Course synopsis:

Over this course Dr. Vleeming will present his research work and distill a 30-year career into a digestible weekend workshop that promises a new understanding and sets of new skills for practice. This course will be especially related to better diagnostics and treatment of lumbar and pelvic girdle patients. The course has both theoretical clinical content as well as hands on demonstrations. Dr Vleeming will show both the clinical research and his clinical work with patients.

Why participate:

This course is especially based on the clinical experience of diagnosing and treating more than 4,000 severe lumbar and pelvic girdle patients in a rehabilitation setting. The results of this approach have shown a remarkable recovery of failed patients.  This course will be especially related to better diagnostics and treatment of chronic pelvic girdle and low back pain patients.

Main objectives:

  1. Provide a critical insight into the complex anatomy and function of the lumbopelvic area
  2. Present a clinical reasoning model that analysis the mechanism behind lumbar and pelvic dysfunctions
  3. Disseminate new data about rehabilitation strategies in the spine and pelvis

Dr. Andry Vleeming co-founded the research group locomotor system at the Medical Faculty, Erasmus University, Rotterdam, Netherlands in 1981. He founded the Spine & Joint Rehabilitation Centre in Rotterdam in 1996 and is the Chairman of the World Congress of Low Back and Pelvic Pain, organised every three years.

Presently, Dr Vleeming is a Professor at Ghent Medical University, Belgium and the New England Medical School, Maine, USA. He has authored and collaborated on many publications, especially on the clinical anatomy of the lumbar spine and the pelvic region in international peer reviewed journals. In recent years he participated in the development of the European Guidelines on Lumbopelvic Pain. He is author of many clinical books on non-operative orthopaedic medicine, including the book, ‘Movement, stability and low back pain’ in cooperation with national and international experts.

Dr. Vleeming has been teaching clinical anatomy in many countries and universities, especially emphasizing the role of clinical anatomical knowledge in influencing a better outcome of treating  spinal and pelvic patients.

Dr. Vleeming has adapted the scientific research of this team into an evidence-based clinical model for assessment and treatment of lumbopelvic dysfunction. The protocol for diagnosis and rehabilitation follows sound scientific principles.  Dr Vleeming and colleagues have studied stability and movement of the pelvis and spine for more than 25 years. This has led to many articles in the Spine Journal concerning the function, diagnosis and treatment of the pelvis and spine.

We are at the moment not taking any registrations, but if you are interested in the topic and future workshop details, please send an email to our office at info@maxfitmovement.ca.

What our clients are saying
  • "‘I've been a patient of Dr. Kelsick for the past 10 years, and Dr. Rite for the past 4, and the two are truly amazing at what they do! Although their titles are Chiropractors, they both have such a wide base of knowledge and understanding of the body, that I often feel as if our sessions are a combination of chiropractic, physiotherapy, massage therapy, and occasionally even nutrition. As such, when I see them, I know I am being taken care off. As an athlete, and simply an injury prone individual, they have both truly made a difference in how my body functions. I definitely recommend =).’ "
    Sabrina Nettey
  • "‘Dr. Kelsick and his team are truly amazing. They’ve been putting me back together and keeping me moving for more than 15 years and now take care of my whole extended family, from my 86-year-old mom to my teenage daughters. Dr. Kelsick goes the extra mile to understand exactly what is going on with your body in order to provide the very best solutions. No problem is too complex or challenging. Think Dr. House with a far better bedside manner!’ "
    Peggi Peacock
  • "‘As an athlete my goal is to have a fit and healthy body, and Maxfit Movement Institute helps me maintain this goal. The team of Doctors are truly gifted, and their positive outlook on life is amazing. Thank you for making a difference in my life.’"
    L Murphy
  • "‘The difference with the staff at MaxFit, especially Randy and Wilbour: they take the time to assess and determine the source of your aches or pains. Not only do they treat whatever it is, they explain how to avoid it happening again. I have tried many physio-therapists but none of them come close to MaxFit. Highly recommended. ‘"
